Love...love...LOVE this!!

Alas....the first video of this song, the one filmed in Hebden Bridge, England was taken off presumably copyright restrictions. Also I don't know how to delete it, so I've put on the original song with a different film of the north of England instead.

It's so great to celebrate where one lives...and this song does it beautifully.
I really enjoyed this!

Hi Ann,
Oh I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I never get tired of it, it's so full of energy! It was filmed in 1985 in Hebden Bridge which is about 20 miles from where we are and it hasn't changed a great deal since then although they have made it cleaner and prettier...no chimney's belching smoke and flowers in tubs etc.
I love the shoulder pads and fashion they are wearing and the children all wrapped up against the cold. The brass-band they show is the Salvation Army, they still exist and do a tremendous amount of good work!

I especially love the children playing...balloons...the toy dump truck... bouncing on the ball..and the general carefree ambiance in the film of those enjoying the moment!

Jane this was awesome to see. Of course I would love it!!! Because (you probably don't know this) your country is the only country I've ever desired to visit. I loved the children and band running down the hill overlooking the village.
I read with much pleasure the post before this one. What fun it was to read about your life. I love hearing about others experiences when they were younger. It's these memories that need to be preserved, so that those who come after us can know us.
sending hugs from here...

Dear June,
You are SO lovely thanks you so much!! Wouldn't it be just grand if you can actually visit England at some point in the future... here's hoping!!

Many blessings and love to you

Found your blog via a circuitous route! Loved this post - bleak it may be but I do so love this area that I have learned to call home. (I live in Saltaire, not all that far from Hebden Bridge).
