Me again mes amies.....

I can tell Autumn is slowly arriving now.  The sunlight, even at mid-day is softer where we are in the North.

I do hope you are all still there, way out there across the miles and continents?

I always get to this point in the year and try to decide, do I like Autumn best...or Spring?  Not a hope of deciding outright, but I still spare a thought each year.  The birds outside are singing beautifully today, did I simply not hear them before this September morning?  Were they there yesterday or was it that I simply hadn't tuned in enough?  Tuning out sometimes has to be a necessity when you have M.E. when even the sound of a cup being placed upon a table sounds as loud as a clap of thunder.

My son was married during the Bank holiday just gone, they had a wonderful day in spite of the clouds and rain threatening, and I managed to be there after several unexpected episodes designed to throw spanners and clogs in the works.  The burglar alarm started to blare just as we were getting dressed, which was definitely odd....it was switched off!  So by the time that was sorted out we were over half an hour late setting off to the venue.  Then we got lost.  Twice.  When we finally found our way to the entrance of  the stately-mansion and found a parking place it was spot-on the time for the wedding to begin, at which point I was faced with a very long steep driveway to climb.  A drive that must have been a 1 in 8 incline and stepped.  I got almost half way up and my legs refused to do any more.  By this time I was more than mildly distressed as you can imagine.  My husband telephoned the cavalry. Two daughters dressed to the nines arrived one either side to yank (crank...more like!) me up the rest of the drive.  Thankfully the bride, as is the custom was delayed and I fortified with a brandy was safely placed in my seat for the ceremony which went off without a hitch and was liberally sprinkled with tears all round.

Janie, my love, life's travails are huge sometimes! But you prevailed, thankfully. What a wonderful event to attend your son's wedding. I know it was beautiful and very emotional. So happy to hear you are out and about again, and even I would have had difficulty climbing a steep incline. Sending love, darling.....

Dear Jane,
It is indeed the most wonderful day when our children get married and I'm so pleased that you saw all of the ceremony !! It's wonderful that you felt well enough and would have been a tradegy if you'd missed it. Such beautiful memories made.
Wishing you well, dear Jane. XXXX

I wish your son and his new bride a long and happy life together -- and also to the mother of the groom. I'm glad your old foe did not snatch any of the ceremony away from you.

It's wonderful to hear from you again, and with good news ... your son's wedding. What a lovely painting to accompany your news.

Hello Jane,

Yes, we are receiving you loud and clear!

We can empathise with you over the Autumn versus Spring debate but a Spring will always win by a short head for us. So much promise and energy and all the hope and promise of the year to come.

Autumn is altogether more mellow, a time for huddling down and putting gardens to bed. Quieter certainly but we love the drama of Spring!

And, how wonderful that you did manage to get to your son's wedding. It must have seemed that this was just an impossible mountain to climb, but you did it! Lovely!

Well first let me congratulate you on withstanding all that stood in your way and making it to the wedding.
If you didn't hurt so much it probably had some humour mixed in...
And my very best to the couple on their marriage.
So as you contemplate whether it is indeed Spring or Fall you favour take care and enjoy the Autumn breezes.

Dearest Jane,
I could not find an email to contact you directly but I'm sure you will receive this note...
I do hope you are keeping well and the weather has not been too harsh. By our standards it is quite mild in your beloved homeland as it is -5C here today. That's not to say you do not find it chilly when those cold north winds blow.
I want to take this opportunity to send a belated Happy Christmas and a wonderful Happy New Year.
Take care my dear.
